D I A N A is the first AI song contest with an associated songwriting camp and an attached Award Ceremony. Human musicians collaborate in a studio to write and produce songs and create music videos with various AI tools. We aim to actively promote the creative and playful dialogue between musicians and AI. Our goal is to kick off inspired collaborations as well as unique songs beyond genre bubbles.
The third edition of the DIANA AI Song contest occurred in October 2023 in Cologne as part of the Cologne Music Week, a music festival for countless live shows and forward-looking panels and workshops.
The third DIANA Songwriting Camp took place in October 2023. Twelve musicians, lyricists, and producers met for two days in a studio and divided into four teams, created songs and music videos using various AI tools. As in previous years, an expert jury selected the participants in advance. The jury's criteria were the musical quality and uniqueness of the entries. In a preparatory workshop, Jovanka v. Wilsdorf introduced the participants to the tools. No prior knowledge of AI music tools was required.
THE DIANA AWARD CEREMONY 2023
The DIANA ceremony took place on October 28, 2023. The four competing teams presented their songs and music videos in the breathtaking Christuskirche. Other evening highlights included a fantastic live set by FLOSS (2020 DIANA winners) and the appearance of Sophia the robot, who congratulated the participants in a video message from Hong Kong. This year's winning team was determined in an exciting final vote and received the DIANA trophies and other valuable prizes.
